Why do we build ramps ?
Born from our own journey to find locally crafted, custom-built, and environmentally sustainable ramps for our parents, The Cotswold Ramp Company was founded to provide the same freedom and mobility they needed—now for you and your loved ones.
Who uses our ramps?
Our ramps are intended for domestic personal use and for local businesses wishing to provide better access.
Timber of metal?
Most supplied ramps in the UK are built from metal.
We don’t think these blend in as nicely as natural timber.
Made in UK
Our ramps are made in the Cotswolds, and we use local suppliers for materials wherever possible.
Built for you - every time
Most UK ramp manufactures provide and install pre-manufactured modular metal ramps.
We do not do that. We build your ramp, to your design, every time, with your measurements and to your choice, and out of timber, which we believe is better.

FAQs
Where does the timber come from to build our ramps?
We source our timber from local businesses in the Cotswolds, including local sawmills, whenever we can, and have built good relationships with local suppliers of the materials we need to build your ramp.
Why do you not use concrete or metal to build your ramps?
Concrete is bad for the environment. A typical sized ramp from us, made with one cubic yard (or cubic metre) of concrete, would produce large amounts of CO2.
We do not build our ramps with metal, as whilst durable, and recyclable, we simply think they do not look as good as natural timber ramps.
What about other materials you use?
We use rust resistant fasteners (including steel screws and galvanised pins), these are durable, long-lasting and 100 percent recyclable.
Our pressure treated (tanilised) timber, protected against decay and insect attack, has an expected lifetime of 15-40 years. Tanilising also improves dimensional stability, reducing the risk of warping and splitting.
The anti-slip surface material we fit, is of an industrial grade, with a high grit count, so suffers less from wear.
How do you protect my ramp
We would normally use recognised industry that protect your ramp from UV rays, and reduces surface cracking, discolouration, and moisture absorption. If you wish us to paint your ramp, we’d agreed a product the timber long-lasting protection.
What about ongoing maintenance?
Staining should be repeated every few years after you receive your ramp.
We can also replace the anti-slip for you (which will naturally suffer wear and tear).
What colour is my ramp
We will normally suggest all the timber parts are colour matched. We have found staining the ramp timber gives the most natural look, and blends into most settings. Any shade of staining is possible, but we’d usually recommend clear. If you have a favourite colour in mind, we’d be happy to suggest and apply a wood stain shade from a recognised staining manufacturer for you.
Do you provide a measuring service ?
Our design and measuring guide, along with detailed photos—and of course, email or phone support from our team—are usually sufficient to help you create the perfect ramp design. If your unique setting requires it, we’d be happy to discuss the possibility of an on-site measurement for optimal results.
How does my ramp arrive
We will agree with you during the design process, how it is best for you to take delivery of your ramp, as well as any installation you need.
